Ah yes, another Purple Yeti Roar is in the house! I’m still recovering from the copious amount of beer and bar food from yesterday’s Super Bowl, but I had enough time to sit down and roar out my thoughts about college football for the week. Yes, National Signing Day came and left (with a hunger for Chic-Fil-A as well). Most of the news for the week, however, revolved around West Virginia’s maneuvering and game cancelling. It’s weird getting ready to sit down and watch college football on January 2nd versus watching it on New Year’s Day. Usually, I would stumble over late to a friend’s house to kick off the new year by watching football, gloming myself with food, getting drunk, playing some board games, and being as lazy as humanly possible. This year, it’s watching everything online, eating some food, and not making a singular play on a game of boards. The good thing is that I can adjust. I think I’m eating way more than I did when I was on vacation. The holidays were tasty but between running around to visit people and sipping a couple of barley pops left me with little time to eat well. Now that I am back, I find my fingers in the candy bowl that filled up from the stockings left before the trip. Oh well, I guess. Tis the season. And all through the house, we had present unwrapping hangovers with eggnog thirst doused. Oh wait, it’s not a poem I’m writing here, it’s the Bowl Pick It and Stick standings update! Christmas scored well with me and I hope the holiday was in your top 5. There was just a sprinkle of games in the last week, with the brunt of the bowls starting this afternoon with Missouri and North Carolina in the Independence Bowl. Bowl Pick It and Stick It 2011: 6 and 8 Split
Yes, it’s bowl season and I’ve got a hankering for one more Bowl Pick It and Stick It. This time bowling is more exciting for me outside of the BCS Bowls. Part of it is the fact that Kansas State got jipped out of an appearance at the Sugar Bowl, but the other part is that the line up BCS wise is just not interesting enough. The Sugar and the Orange are lame. The BCS National Championship Game is a rematch of boredom. The Fiesta and Rose look good but the overall product leaves me underwhelmed. That’s what I’m stoked for the Cotton Bowl. It’s non BCS and has a top 10 BCS match up with Kansas State taking on Arkansas. SEC vs Big 12. Hell yeah. Remember it’s a straight up pick but you can rank your confidence from 1 to 35. What other bowls are interesting you ask? Well, let’s start with the Big 12. Baylor and Washington look good for the Alamo Bowl, thanks to Robert Griffin III’s Hesiman win. Oklahoma playing Iowa for the first time in forever in the Insight Bowl sees Sooner head coach Bob Stoops head to his alma mater. What other games look good? How about the Outback Bowl with Georgia taking on Michigan State, another version of the BCS snub bowl. That’s about it for me. The others are decent but they just don’t jump out to me. The teams have been announced that cards played out on the table. The big hand is lame this year but the side bets are sexier. That’s right the regular season is over and now we are flipping over to bowl season. There were some snubs as usual, but the Big 12 lineup of bowls still looks pretty strong. The Cotton Bowl is right up there with the BCS bowls in terms of interesting match ups. Kansas State vs Arkansas, or Big 12 vs SEC, like it should be. Crib Sheet: Time To Go On A Diet
Well, it’s certainly been a recovery week now, hasn’t it? We’ve got one more week of college football and I’m still wiped out from last week. I guess it’s time to go on a diet. Or at least a flash one. I’ve got about three weeks to slim back down and it’s going to be rough. The diet starts today with the Crib Sheet. Most of the news out there is just hype over the SEC, so I’m not going to waste your time on that. There is, however, some small tasty nuggets of news that you are all welcome to bite into. But after that I need 20 push ups. And… GO!

We have one more week to go, but things are pretty much locked up by now. On the Pick It and Stick It side, Bryce Brown for Heisman pretty much has it locked up. BCS wise, it looks like the heavens and earth have shaken and bubbled up a rematch between LSU and Alabama for the BCS National Championship Game. Ugh. At least for the BCS there is an outside chance for Oklahoma State to throw a wrench into the gears. So let’s take a look at the standings for the next to last time this year.

Chilling Out After Being Stuffed
Man I”m chilling here in the ole home office watching some old episodes of Doctor Who and reflecting on the long holiday weekend that was in college football. I didn’t go anywhere and opted to be completely lazy. Turkey day was a smash and I ended up falling asleep pretty fast on the couch. The NFL games were exciting for once. But there were two full days of college football that I had to watch. I’m not sure I remember much so I’ll be short and sweet on this.
GameDay: Goobye Rivalries
Wow, we here in the Big 12 said goodbye to one rivarly Thursday and now today we will be saying goodbye to another. Granted there were some rivalries that fizzled out last year due to teams leaving the league but these hit closer to home and home away from home. It’s funny how the accleration of money caused much of this. Yes, you can say that it could be other things, but when conferences are getting big payouts for television deals, things just turn sour quick. So today I get to say goodbye to the Border War.

Ho man, am I stuffed. I never thought that I would be as stuffed as I was away from the family on the Thanksgiving as I am now. I know for certain that Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays out there now. Family is really getting together with friends and loved ones. Thankspotting: Home Away From Home For The Holidays
Last week was rough. For lots of reasons. Tailgating as hard as I did last weekend has left some lingering effects. There’s also a sprinkle of great games from Thursday through Saturday. So I decided that this week, it will be some major home spectating. It’s a weird week for me anyway because this is the first Thanksgiving I’ve had away from home.
