Welcome to the first Pick It and Stick It for the 2009 college football season! We are mixing things up this year and introducing confidence points for the picks. Last year, we had fun doing it by the spread but the competition was way apart (as in Purple Yeti). So now we are upping the ante a bit and making everyone assign confidence points. What does that mean? It means that you win the points you set for when you choose a winner of a match up.
For example, Florida is going to roll Charlseton State. The spread is off so it’s a straight up pick. Everyone will pick Florida. But with confidence points, you can assign the most confidence points for the week, 17, for that pick. Someone may be more confident and choose Missouri over Illinois and set the confidence points for the Florida game to 16. This should even things out and make the league even more competitive toward the end of the season. To read more on the rules and to register go here:

This week already started out with a bang (and punch) last night with Boise State beating Oregon. Now we have 3 more Top 25 contests to watch this weekend. Wasn’t this supposed to happen a couple of weeks from now when conference play takes over? Nope. The playoffs start this weekend and we are ready to watch every snap. The spread for the Oklahoma State game is interesting as the odds makers are giving the nod to the Cowboys. This is the ‘Pokes biggest game ever. Will they show up? With injury reports coming out about Oklahoma’s offensive line, we’re thinking that the spread may be closer than the 22 on the board. We’re not even sure 7 points will be put up with the Alabama and Virginia Tech game. The rest of the Top 25 contenders from the Big 12 should meet their Vegas standards.
