Barspotting: Staying Late at Nick and Jake’s

nicakandjakes

It’s the opening weekend of Conference play and we will be heading to good ‘ole Overland Park to take in some games at Nick and Jake’s.  Their dealio is they have one owner who like restaurants and one who likes sports bars.  Obviously we will be spending most of the time in the bar spot (pun intended).  Will this split decision location play to their benefit?  We’ll find out this weekend.  There are some BIG games going on Saturday night so plan on us getting there a little later in the afternoon.  Hope to see y’all there.

When: Saturday October 10, 2009
Time: 4:00 pm
Where: Nick and Jake’s, 135th and Metcalf,  6830 w. 135th, Overland Park, KS. 66223 913.681.8535

Notes:  Conference play is out of the gates!  And what better way to kick it off than pitting two Top 25 ranked teams on a Thursday night?  So here we go with Nebraska heading to Columbia to take on Missouri.  It’s sure to be a wet, wild game.   Stay dry out there if you’re going.  The Battle for the Schwartzwalder Tropy is taking place when West Virginia heads to Syracuse.  I’ve never heard of that trophy before, ever.   Oklahoma State will have to deal with Texas A&M without Dez Bryant.  It might be close.  Kansas should handle Iowa State.  The match up between Alabama and Mississippi seems to be attractive but we’re guessing it will be a blow out anyway.  Oklahoma’s injury woes may heal up a little better when they host Baylor.  Kansas State will head to Lubbock with a possible Taylor Potts-less Texas Tech.  That one may be close.  Texas should roll Colorado.  Finally Florida will go to Death Valley and take on LSU.  It’s a game time decision for Tebow and that will really be the determining factor of the game.
