Here we are moving on up the list of mascots not yet covered by KCCGD that are in Phil Steele’s Top 50 Preseason for 2011. This week I’m going to take a look at #39 Clemson and the Clemson Tiger. I avoided this guy for awhile because the info is kinda weak out there and there seems to be a ton of tiger mascots out there. Welp, since Phil placed these guys so high it’s the perfect time to talk about the Clemson Tiger, well because it’s unavoidable at this point. So follow me along as I spin the tail of the Clemson Tiger and find out if he’s not just another pretty pussy cat.
Happy Independence Day to everyone here from the KCCGD blog. Even though it says Kansas City, I’m down here in Austin for good but it doesn’t matter because it’s all American baby. More on that change here in a couple of months. In the meantime, I was going through the mascots that I’ve yet to look at from this year’s Phil Steele’s Top 50 list, but since today is a very special day we are going to forgo that and head straight into a patriotic mascot. What I pulled out of my stars and striped hat was the Virginia Cavalier and CavMan.
Much ballyhoo is blowing around the college football land due to the blowhards up north in the Big 10. It seems they want to expand their television footprint or whatever it is. Part of their master plan includes penetrating the much valued market in New York. How will they do this? By going after a low hanging fruit by the name of Rutgers. So in honor of one of the teams that is part of the speculationalooza, we’ll be taking a look at Rutgers mascot, the Scarlet Knight.
Mascot beginnings come in all shapes and sizes. From local attractions to student voted, the origination come from all over the place. This week we’re going to find out about one of the coolest mascot origins. No, it’s not Wolverine (as in X-Men), but Oklahoma State’s Pistol Pete. We’ll also talk about the late to the race live mascot aptly named Bullet. So strap on in pardner as we’re about to mosey on down memory lane and make a stop at Stillwater’s favorite ‘Poke.
