Hey it’s BCS Championship time and I’m staying in for the festivities. The teams are taking the field and I’m staring at a coin toss coming up. It’s been a better regular season so I’m hoping the Big Game can make up for an otherwise lackluster bowl season. I’m still surprised KU won the way they did. Anywho, click on more and refresh the page for updates.

Ending the Year on a High Note and Some PBR
So I’m sitting here on the couch contemplating getting ready for the New Year’s Eve rounds I’m making when I realized, “Hey I haven’t posted to the KCCGD in awhile!” Believe it or not, I actually did watch college football in the last month and yes I did go to some bars. I fell off the wagon with holidays and what not and I’m getting a head start on my resolution: posting more to the blog! So, in the offseason there’ll be some new additions and news posts and any other junk that fits our little world here. But for now, I missed a month of football news/updates so I’m about to unload, shotgun style:

Pick It N’ Stick It: Giving Many Thanks to Many Picks
So in the midst of my stuffing and giblet haze last night, a tiny, wobbly, image snatched my attention and slowly brought me back to a full football watching state. The tiny wobbly was the USC vs Arizona St. game. The NFL games sucked this year and College Football, if but for 3 quarters, saved the day. Good call goes to the scheduling gods who set this one up. Speaking of good calls, here are the holiday picks:

Manhattan Isn’t What It Used To Be, And Neither Were The Wildcats
The Purple Yeti likes to take one weekend out of the year to relive what it’s like in the Little Apple and last week it was time to make the trip. The garage door opening up was new to me as there was much change from what I was used to back in the Yeti days of Wildcat prominence. Please note that the smoke you see was from Chase and Co. smoking K-State on the field.

Pick It N’ Stick It: Heading Into the Final Turn
Another week and another pick set. The college football season is turning out great again as there is no comparison to the drama that entails every game played. On any given Sunday Thursday, the underdog can shock the team and the televised nation. Did anybody watch Oregon choke last night? No more crying from the Pac-10. Big 12 on top all the way. Here’s the picks:

Pick It N’ Stick It: Road Edition
It’s Friday and it’s time for another pick set to drop on the masses. By the time you will be reading this, hopefully, I will be on the road with Jolly and crew heading to heaven er Iowa. Damn you Kevin Costner. What is it with Costner and sports movies? I’m glad he hasn’t done a sports movie. Or has he?

Was it the pizza or being away that made me sleepy?
I was still kinda dazed pulling into the City Market Saturday heading toward another KCCGD barspot. The night before was a wedding rehearsal that the Yeti was fully in (it’s okay, it wasn’t my wedding). We had a big ole meal from Bucca De Peppo and it was just lounging in my stomach. I plowed forward and made my way to Minsky’s at the City Market.

Pick It N’ Stick It: I’m Drawing a Blank
Yes yes yes! Pick time! Who would’ve thunk that the shoe is on the other foot for Kansas vs Nebraska? Twenty years ago, you could say that at this time, 1 team would be undefeated and 1 would be in a downward spiral. But no one would’ve guessed that Kansas is undefeated and Nebraska is in the spiral. Oh well, that’s why you play the games. Here are the picks:
Barspotting: Back on Track and Minsky’s for a Snack

Pick It N’ Stick It: Speed Dialing Beano
Here’s another week of picks. Yes, we’re a little bogged down with real world stuff, but we’re gonna bang out some picks regardless. Beano Cook is really old. He’s been around since forever and is pretty much the Phil Rizzuto of College Football. Check out the ESPN College Football Insider on Wednesdays to listen to him dog every other sport and talk about what college football was like in the 1930’s. The Purple Yeti will because he needs help with his picks big time.
Barspotting: M.I.A. For This Week. Yeti Out.

Johnny On The Spot Reminded Me Of My Young Yeti Cave
I was running a little behind this week, so after popping into Toto’s for a 5 shot Depth Charge, I ended up thinking of a black hole. Driving to Johnny’s Tavern confirmed that for me. I grew up around that area, but Corinth Square had no footprint in my memory. It all seemed new even though I used to live so close to it. With Johnny’s being a KU bar, I continued the black hole idea by doing the first natural reaction this Yeti has with KU stuff: going to the bathroom.

Pick It N’ Stick It: Tom Osbourne Approved
Here is another set of picks for the week. So far, Krizzou is Krizzillin’ the competition. It’s been so bad, as a matter of fact, that the President of KCCGD fired the Athletic Director this week. Let’s hope Coach Yeti and other participants get their act together. Happy Birthday to Keith Jackson by the way as he turned 79. Probably one of the best announcers out there. And now it’s a FUMMMMBLLLE to the picks….
