We are halfway through the season and it is time to get all franchised up in here. That’s right, for the mid-season barspot, we’ll be heading to one of the local franchise Pluckers Wing Bar. Outside of the tasty appetizer I had at the Draft Pick, there has been no major wing place I’ve been to this year. So, I’ll be trolling South Lamar looking for the hottest wings they can muster. It’s the Southwest, they damn well better be way hotter than Buffalo Wild Wings’ tame excuse for nuclear hot wings. Plus, there’s some games! Join us! Continue reading Barspotting: Pluckers→
Conference play kind of opened up last weekend for the Big 12, but this weekend we have a couple of head to head match ups. I don’t know which game will be more exciting, the Texas vs Iowa State or Kansas State vs Baylor. The obvious is the Kansas State game but if you remember last year, Iowa State went down to Austin and beat the Longhorns. The local media around here is chirping about how it’s a revenge game but the player interviews talk about how they expect to handle Iowa State easily. We’ll find that out Saturday as well as just how real Kansas State’s defense really is. Here’s this week’s Pick It and Stick It: Continue reading Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 05: Time To Play For Real→
The holidays are over and we have just 4 games left to go on the Bowl Pick It and Stick It. We here at the KCCGD all feel about 10 pounds heavier after chugging through the holiday foods and drinks. So while we go map out a plan to lose the flab, check out the latest updates. Please note: there are some games left off from the results that we are saving for the last update. The final numbers will be a little off. That said, here’s the update:
Okay, everybody is fairly settled in on the new changes for Pick It and Stick It. Now we get a chance to turn our focus from the rules of the game on to the actual game itself. Usually you see pick sets float around the office or in the college dorm. Typically on top of that you will see a wager attached to sweeten the deal. What we like to do here is get feedback from you to see what the wager or prize should be. Now it can be a pitcher of beer, or it could be making the loser(s) wear the other team’s colors. So read on through and drop us a comment to let us know what you want as the prize for the champion this year.
We were very skeptical when we strolled toward the Johnny’s Tavern setup on the corner of the Power & Light District in Downtown Kansas City. We’ve been to a couple of placesaround there before and the experiences were weak. We had some hope, however, as Johnny’s Tavern came through for us before. After spending the afternoon there we can say it is the best bar in the district. The food was great, the poker game was loads of fun, and the games on the screens were stellar. If you own or work at a bar around that area, read on to see how to make it successful.
We’re winding down to the end of the off season and the end of our first foray into Mascot Mondays. We have a couple of more to go before we pack the suit away in the trunk and turn off the lights. But before we go away, we have a couple of more guys, er gals, er blobs to feature. So this week we will take a look at one of the influences to this here series. We’ve always known mascots to be fun and lovable while at the same time be fearsome and intimidating to opponents. But every time we see Western Kentucky’s Big Red, we wonder just what the heck does this thing do? We’ll try to figure that out on top of answering why he’s so dang popular.
