We’re going to Dirk’s this week and I have to say I’m a little curious. The Northland is vacant of bars I’m not too familiar with so this trip will make it the first charted barspot up north. Krizzou tells me it was a blast when she would watch basketball games there. She’s looking at a return visit and I’m looking to really for a return to style after last week’s barspot. If anything we hope to see some good football and cheap beer.
It’s another week of KCCGD creaminess and we’re heading back downtown for a storied barspott at the Quaff Bar & Grill. We’ve rolled downtown before but we wanted to hit up a sports bar that actually has some history before the Power & Light closes it down. That’s right, Tanner’s right next door closed down and its high time to get some reminiscing done before the new school eats the old school. It should be fun, as the last time I was there (years ago mind you) I remember pitchers of beer and some darts. Doink!
Yes it’s road trip time for some of us here at KCCGD. Look for some tailgating wackiness and a healthy dose of live football video action this weekend as we hop on a bus and make way for Memorial Stadium. It’s Sunflower Showdown time as the Kansas State Wildcats travel to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks. Both teams took a whooping last week and really lost in the same style: giving up the ball. We here at the KCCGD won’t turnover the coverage this weekend as we look to see some sweet pre-game action and pray that this week’s game is a little more than competitive. At any rate, it should be a blast and am sleeping just a little extra this week in preparation of a rockin’ good time. When: Saturday, November 1st 2008 Where:University of Kansas Memorial Stadium – 1000 W 11th St Lawrence, KS 66045 Time: 9:30 AM – We hope to see you tailgating out there! Many of the barspots we’ve been at here at the KCCGD are locallly owned bars. Some of them are franchise (read more than one bar in the area), but we really haven’t hit up a national type chain. Until this week. I’m not sure if it’s the commercial or if it’s the tasty wings, but we’re taking a break from the local sauce to see how the national boys stand up. There may be more franchises down the road, but rest assured we will hit up the local flavor again real soon. Here’s this weeks slate of games: Continue reading Barspotting: Franchise Funkiness at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar→
So we dialed in the mojo a couple of weeks ago by returning toKite’s (formerly Rusty’s) the K-State vs. Texas Tech game so we’re gonna dial up another mojo hit for the Mizzou vs Texas game at the Brooksider. It truly was the best spot last year so we’re looking to have a good time. Since we’ve been there however, there have been a few changes so we’ll check up on that and let y’all know how it goes. One thing’s for sure, Krizzou is gonna drink her anxiousness to blackout. When: Saturday, October 18, 2008 Where:Brooksider Bar & Grill – 6330 Brookside Plz, Kansas City, MO Time: 2pm, the morning games suck Continue reading Barspotting: Bringing it Back to Best Spot from Last Year at Brooksider’s (Alliteratively)→
This week’s barspot takes us to the western side of the KC area at Arizona’s Neighborhood bar. I’ve been there a couple of times and I’m looking forward to going back. The biggest game of the weekend starts out early Saturday morning, so be ready for the lul in the afternoon. It’s kinda like the lul in great western movies that we are going through. I still stand by my postulation that Tombstone was the last great western. Y’all are welcome to correct me. When: Saturday October 11, 2008 Where:Arizona’s Neighborhood Bar – 7182 Renner Rd Shawnee Mission, KS 6621 Time: 11:00 AM Sharp Continue reading Barspotting: The Wild West Comes to the Midwest at Arizona’s→
Okay so I was at Kite’s earlier this year to cheer on K-State and only saw then tank hard to Louisville, but it wasn’t an official barspot. Some of you may be asking, “Hey that used to Rusty’s Last Chance!” And yes, we were there for a barspot last year. But the place has name changed, I didn’t get any pics, and most importantly last year K-State beat top 10 ranked Texas. So I’m hoping to rub off some of that magic this year when they take on No. 7 Texas Tech. Boy OH boy I’m pulling out all the stops this week. Purple shirt, purple boxers, purple pens, Purplesaurus Rex Kool aid, the whole shebang. All for the defense. Anyway, here’s Kite’s:
So I’m sitting over at a friend’s house rocking out and ruling some Scene It. Welp, the host’s wife passed out and it was time to go. Driving away from there I popped the game on the radio and JT the Brick was yammering on about how USC is not showing up. Welp in between his actual show, they were dropping in updates to USC vs Oregon State game. I came into with about 10 minutes to go into the game and USC down 7 with the ball on their 5 yard line. Here’s this week’s picks first: Continue reading Pick It and Stick It: WTF Just Happened?!?!?!→
This week takes us to what used to be Fuzzy’s South. The last time I was there, I left it pretty fuzzy. But that was then, now it’s for football. With 2 of the 3 local teams out on shore leave this week, K-State is the only one left ready to roll. Hopefully they’ll take out their frustration Louisiana-Lafayette. But who knows? It may be ugly for the Wildcats too.
One quick note before the Saturday spot. The ole KCCGD crew is heading out to Kite’s (formerly Rusty’s Last Chance) to watch K-State vs Louisville. Freeman got some front page love yesterday on espn.com as the Big 12 Blogger Tim Griffin talked about Josh being up there as one of the league’s best quarterbacks. He also picked the Wildcats with the shnide over the Cardinals. It’s on the road but they travel well and Louisville may be out a couple of offensive linemen for the game so I’m with Tim and giving the Yeti Schnide to K-State. Here’s Saturday’s spot:
Welp the first ole official like point checking pick it and stick it has arrived. This is what the participants think for the grandaddiest of all weeks of football. WEEK 2! Most of the games are weak except for the bump ECU got from beating Va Tech. Um, yeah West Virginia should handle them. All of the local teams should win except we are all in accordance to Louisana Tech keeping the game close. Okay real quick upset for ECU or La Tech? Here’s the picks: Continue reading Pick It and Stick It: Weak 2? Sand Dimas Football RULES!→
Finally, it’s here! After longing through boring ass basketball, unheard of hockey, loser baseball, and a fart in the wind called the Olympics, the real sport of men has arrived! Yes, it’s even more important than professional football. And after the spring football, the media days, the cuts, the hype, the talk, we arrive tonight for the start of college football. I’m about to head out Tanner’s in Lenexa to enjoy multiple of games of what will be more than likely blowouts but I don’t care.
