Pick It And Stick It: It’s For The Birds

wildcateatingjayhawk

It’s Friday and it’s late.  I successfully avoided Black Friday and took the brunt of Thanksgiving yesterday.  I took a day off yesterday and am now finally recovered enough to spit out my finger pickin’s flakes of college football destiny.  Thanksgiving was a day for family and this weekend it’s been a family of rivalries.  Heck I’m watching the Civil War at the moment (that’s Oregon vs Oregon State).  We get more rivalries tomorrow and it’s time to give thanks and give picks to see who comes out on top. Barspotting 2013 Week 13: Redrock Bar and Grill

img_2984

Well, lookie here!  It’s a barspotting post!  Yup, unannounced too.  I was up in Dallas, Texas (North Dallas specifically) and had some time to kill before I went and saw the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary show.  So what with it being college football Saturday, what better chance would there be to hit up a good local bar in Dallas?  That’s exactly what I did when I went to the Redrock Bar and Grill.  Was it good?  Was it bad?  I’m not really sure.  It’s been a long time so let me crack my knuckles and take a crack at this on more time. Continue reading Barspotting 2013 Week 13: Redrock Bar and Grill

Purple Yeti Roar 96: Blowout Sandwiches

deli_sandwich

Yeah I was out of town this weekend, so I didn’t get to see much football.  I did, however, see enough to get a taste of them greasy ass blowout sandwiches.  There was plenty to go around this weekend.  Watch me talk about Kansas State, Oklahoma, Trevor Knight, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Jake Sims, Iowa State, SEC, Big 12, Pac 12, Florida, Georgia Southern, Oregon, Arizona, Florida State, Alabama, and Ohio State. Pick It And Stick It: ESPN College GameDay In Big 12 Country? Finally!

collegegamedayoklahomastatebaylor

It took up until the last remaining weeks of the season but ESPN finally felt it worthy to grace their college football presence in Big 12 country.  All it took was a still undefeated Baylor and a one loss Oklahoma State to do it.  And boy that will be a shootout.  Kapwing!  We also have a couple of tasty Top 25 match ups and a HUGE game for Alabama as they take on Chattanooga.  Let’s get the show started. Purple Yeti Roar 95: The Plot Thickens

theplotthickens

For such a weak lineup of games this weekend we actually got some meat to the schedule. Some teams went by the wayside while others stepped up to the task. Watch me talk about Kansas State, TCU, Gary Patterson, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Blake Bell, Trevor Knight, Texas, Oklahoma State, Mack Brown, Kansas, West Virginia, Baylor, Texas Tech, Georgia, Auburn, USC, Stanford, Oregon, Pac 12, SEC, and the Big 12. Pick It And Stick It: A November To Remember

November_To_Remember ecw logo

So it started out last week with Oregon tripping on their tails against Stanford.  It’s that time of year again where we’ll start seeing others fall to the wayside.  Heck, even smaller teams have felt the brunt of November.   Just ask Texas Tech.  Who will it be this week?  Baylor? Florida State?  Alabama?  I guess we’ll find out Saturday who will be next. Continue reading Pick It And Stick It: A November To Remember

Football Feedings 2013 Week 11: Big Boy Biscuits and Gravy

img_2652

Boy oh boy, I could not wait for a weekend like this.  It’s the first time this year that my team, Kansas State, played at 11:00 in the morning.  That means that I get to have the opportunity to have some tasty breakfast for this week’s Football Feedings.  So many choices, so many different breakfast ideas.  I landed on a good ole down home favorite: biscuits and gravy.  But not just any kind of gravy.  This was with sausage and bacon. Continue reading Football Feedings 2013 Week 11: Big Boy Biscuits and Gravy

KC College GameDay LiveBlog 2013 Week 11: Morning Comes To College Football America

footballsunrise

Rise and shine we have our first early morning game and live blog!  I’ve got Kansas State at Texas Tech and more than likely a whole bunch of Big 10 games to chew through.  I may pop on later to watch the night games.   All the action will be right here.  Grab a cup of coffee and some biscuits and gravy and let’s watch some football!

Pick It And Stick It: The Unofficial Start Of The Weekend

thursdaynightlights

I can’t ever remember having this many contests going on for a Thursday night like this that meant so much.  So now we have it.  We get Baylor taking on Oklahoma and then Oregon taking on Stanford.  What a meaty plate.  It’s good thing we’re getting a day’s rest on Friday before another serving Saturday.  That plate won’t be light either, with Kansas State cow cooking and some SEC sausage to gnaw.  Why am I so hungy?  I should be out on the unofficial start of the college football weekend. Continue reading Pick It And Stick It: The Unofficial Start Of The Weekend

Football Feedings 2013 Week 10: Farmageddon Feedings

img_2624

It didn’t take long to figure out what to have this week for Football Feedings.  The Kansas State Wildcats were playing the Iowa State Cyclones in Farmageddon.  So what better way to pay tribute than to cook up some cow and corn?  That’s what I did.  This week we have a good ole hearty meal consisting of ribeye steak, roasted corn cob, wheat rolls, and some smoked porter to wash it down with.  Here’s the recipe I used for the bread and I’m rocking the Mesquite Smoked Porter from Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling Company.  Let’s get cooking! Continue reading Football Feedings 2013 Week 10: Farmageddon Feedings

Purple Yeti Roar 93: Fall Back

2013FallBack

I got an extra hour of sleep last night and boy did I need it.  The action from yesterday’s college football games was just too much.  Watch me talk about Kansas State, Iowa State, Farmageddon, Kansas, Texas, TCU, West Virginia, Gary Patterson, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Tennessee, Oregon, Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Baylor, and Oklahoma. Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 93: Fall Back

KC College GameDay LiveBlog 2013 Week 10: Farmageddon Has Arrived

farmageddon2009

It’s the most holy of holy rivalries for any kind of farm bearing football fan.  Yes, Kansas State takes on Iowa State this weekend and I’ll be live-blogging all of the destruction.  It’s a Big 12 afternoon as well as we’ll see two more mediocre match ups before Oklahoma State takes on Texas Tech.  Plus we got Miami taking on Florida State in a very relevant rivalry game.  There will be blood left of the field after this day and I’ll be here documenting it all Ken Burns style.  Except using corny music.

Pick It And Stick It: Stick-to-itiveness

halloween0803

Last week Kansas State bounced back, as I correctly predicted, and now it’s time for them to keep sawing that wood.  There’s plenty of other teams out there with saws that have plenty of 2×4’s to tackle.  We’ll tackle what I think they will do this weekend rightcheer.  You know, I have a saw myself for the picks.  It’s time I get back on the track.  Now where’s that wood.
