The season is over and I’m already looking forward to September again. We got some recruiting and coaching hot talk to dish first. Well that and some rebounds by players in the naughty box. Look for some talk on BCS National Championship, Alabama, Notre Dame, Nick Saban, Brian Kelly, Kansas State, Daniel Sams, Case McCoy, Texas, TCU, Casey Pachall, NCAA, Miami, Big Ten, Maryland, and Rutgers. College Football Lost It’s Gloss But Not It’s Heart
Wow, what a year it has been for college football. Okay, it’s kind of cliché but what I thought would be a rather quiet off-season after a bogus BCS National Championship game, turned into a major circus yet once again. Yes, there were ups and downs but mostly downs. I think this off-season fully solidified the fact that college football is all about the money. I’m going to do my best to hold on to the tradition as tight as I can before it all goes away. Seriously, I’m not trying to bum you out. We did get some great news too. Purple Yeti Roar 27: A Cold Wind A Blown’ From Up North
It’s getting chilly down here in Austin in the middle of July. Wah, you say? Yes, but not that kind of chill. It’s the kind that’s blowing over college football and it’s coming from Happy Valley. This week I try to stay warm and protected from the goings on at Penn State as well as talking about Joe Paterno, Jerry Sandusky, NCAA, Iowa, Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, Missouri, Gary Pinkel, Kansas State, and Collin Klein.

Purple Yeti Roar 25: Getting Old and Feeling Bold
Yes that’s Dr. Pepper 10 bold for young whipper snappers. I’m older this week and so’s the country. With my newfound boldness, I break down Temple, Southern Utah, North Dakota, Big Sky Conference, Sun Belt Conference, Kansas State, ACC, Orange Bowl, Notre Dame, NCAA, Mark Emmert, Arkansas, and John L. Smith. Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 25: Getting Old and Feeling Bold
Purple Yeti Roar 24: Celebratin’ ‘Merica and Happy Things
I’m kicking of the festivities early this year and celebrating Independence Day a little early. Why you ask? Well, it could be that after all of the NCAA playoff announcements, Notre Dame will still be independent. Or it could be Erin Andrews heading to Fox Sports to host a college football pregame show. Or it could be that West Virginia and TCU are officially in the Big 12. Nope. It’s that Texas A&M and Missouri are gone from the Big 12. Happy Days! Time to celebrate with some Colorado Buffalo beer. Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 24: Celebratin’ ‘Merica and Happy Things
Purple Yeti Roar 11: One Shining Moment
The basketball dealy is done and I’m ready to talk football. This week it’s Kansas and Texas spring practice with a little bit of NCAA, Baylor, Ricky Williams, Iowa, and Kansas State. One shining moment, it’s all on the line…… Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 11: One Shining Moment
Purple Yeti Roar 07: My Combine Tests Drinks And Football Knowledge
I’m celebrating. That’s right, my RPM Challenge is done and I’m taking a load off with you. This week I talk about the Combine, RG3, Dick Ebersol, the Big 12, Randy Edsell, and drink on camera. Oh the fun!
Crib Sheet: The End Is Nigh
Yup, we have a handful of games to go for this bowl season. It’s been a pretty great run so far. The weekend saw some great finishes and exciting shootouts. I’m going to miss college football much like everyone else out there after the last whistle blows. Until that whistle tweets its last tweet, we got a few more Crib Sheets to pass around as well. The news wasn’t too quiet as we get to see more coaching changes and draft declarations now. So let’s get right down to it:
Crib Sheet: Emptied Out The Bowls
I think I’m eating way more than I did when I was on vacation. The holidays were tasty but between running around to visit people and sipping a couple of barley pops left me with little time to eat well. Now that I am back, I find my fingers in the candy bowl that filled up from the stockings left before the trip. Oh well, I guess. Tis the season. I know one thing, after the new year and the end of bowl season, it’s mega workout time. One item that will mostly be fat throughout the year is the Crib Sheet. So let’s get munching: Continue reading Crib Sheet: Emptied Out The Bowls
Crib Sheet: Christmas Balls Will Be Ringing
Yes! Christmas vacation starts today for me! I remember back in the day how Christmas vacation lasted way longer than just a week, but I’ll take what I can get. Back in the day I used only a couple of crib sheets and you’ll be seeing one today. The news is not as light as I would like but I’m forging on. Bowl season and the holiday season is upon us so it’s time to celebrate! On with the crib sheet!

Crib Sheet: Prizes Inside!
It’s that time of year again. The time to hand out awards for special play by special players. The Big 12 awards popped out and there were a couple surprises. The one that jumps out at me is the ‘All-purpose’ award for Kansas State’s Collin Klein. Was that ever used before in the past? It seems like they cooked it up just for Klein. I mean, he’s no Heisman winner, but he was the most important person on the team for the Wildcats. I guess as a Kansas State fan, I’ll take what I can get. You have to take what you can get with this week’s Crib Sheet as well, so lets’ get doling:
Crib Sheet: The Chips Have Fallen Into the Bowls
The teams have been announced that cards played out on the table. The big hand is lame this year but the side bets are sexier. That’s right the regular season is over and now we are flipping over to bowl season. There were some snubs as usual, but the Big 12 lineup of bowls still looks pretty strong. The Cotton Bowl is right up there with the BCS bowls in terms of interesting match ups. Kansas State vs Arkansas, or Big 12 vs SEC, like it should be. Call your bets and flop on over to this week’s Crib Sheet.

Crib Sheet: Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving
And all through the house, pumpkin pie was baking and I was aroused (with hunger). Yup, it’s that time of year again. This year, I’m planning on laying back and actually watching some competitive football. For once it will be both for the NFL and college football. So there’s been a feast of news leading up to turkey day and I wrapped it up in a big ole slice of Crib Sheet. It’s kinda like fish and chips, but with college football news and less of stink. I hope. Here is this week’s fresh Crib Sheet:

Crib Sheet: Closing A Chapter on This Book
Okay so alot of stuff happened over the last week regarding the Penn State Jerry Sandusky situation. And when I say alot of stuff, I mean alot. Basically, that school is screwed and it will take forever to rebuild. I’m sure due process will play out and what not, but it’s passed the point of no longer needing to be covered here. So let’s cheer up a bit. I’m going to a live college football game Saturday! I’m already getting stoked because I have some buds coming into town to watch it with me. In the meantime, here’s this week’s Crib Sheet:
Crib Sheet: Scandals that Rival the Offseason
Here I thought the two last offseasons were brutal for college football what with the realignment talk and sports agent nonsense, but boy was I wrong when the Jerry Sandusky scandal came out last week. Last week former Penn State defensive coach Sandusky was charged with molesting boys and it all went down from there. Some top officials resigned, the President was fired, and now winningest coach in Division I (FBS) Joe Paterno was fired. JoPa apparently knew what Sandusky was doing and did the legal minimum requirement in reporting the situation. Now, he let Sandusky stay around campus after the incident and more incidents happen. I know, the higher ups are in charge, but everyone knows that Penn State = Joe Paterno. Whether it was legal or not, public relation wise he should’ve done more. Ick. I’m done with that, on to the Crib Sheet:
