Last week was rough. For lots of reasons. Tailgating as hard as I did last weekend has left some lingering effects. There’s also a sprinkle of great games from Thursday through Saturday. So I decided that this week, it will be some major home spectating. It’s a weird week for me anyway because this is the first Thanksgiving I’ve had away from home. Hopefully I won’t miss Mom’s stuffing too much. Let’s check out the games.

Oh yeah! I’m already thinking about what to do for the tailgating experience this weekend. I’m not sure if we actually have a spot to smoke some meat so we may be grilling guerilla style. What does that mean? Slapping some meat in a backpack and finding some friendlies for grilling. It should be quite the adventure. Speaking of adventure, the corner has turned for Bryce Brown for Heisman. It’s up to the rest of the league to catch up. Let’s take a look at the pick set: Continue reading Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 11: Saucy Selections →
It’s the middle of the season and we are looking completely different from where we thought we were at. That’s okay. That’s how college football works. The way things changed week to week is what makes it the best sport in my mind and hopefully yours. So will the rest of the season prove even more unpredictable? We’ve yet to see any real upsets yet and we’re knee-deep into conference play. So chances are the 13 or so undefeated teams will start to dwindle down. I know this will happen because sports writers are talking about the possibility of 4 undefeated teams at the end of the season. Here’s this week’s pick set:

Alrighty welp I’m back for another week of actual Barspotting. Kansas City was nice and all but I’ve been to all the good bars up there and now I’m ready to hit (or find) the good bars down here in Austin. This week I’m going to try to get to Third Base. Hopefully, I can play my cards right and get there to brag about it all to you on Monday morning. From the looks of things it’s a hot spot to be at so I know it’ll be crowded with others when I get there. Come on and join me!

The BCS Standings are out and it’s time to start wiping away the competition. Oklahoma and Missouri will lock horns tomorrow to find out who will be worthy from the Big 12. We also have LSU battling Auburn for SEC worthiness. The pretenders are wiping away and it’s all downhill for the road to the BCS Championship Game. The pretenders will also start wiping away in our Pick It and Stick It challenge. Let’s take a look at what’s on the windshield for this week.

It’s been almost a year since we’ve been to Johnny’s Tavern and it took the rest of the season for us to decide that it was the best Barspot for last year. So, as tradition calls, we found ourselves back at Johnny’s Tavern at the Power & Light District to enjoy the first full Saturday of college football. The bar hasn’t changed much but just enough for us to take notice. The food specials knocked us out but the games were kind of so so. Read on as we go over Johnny’s Tavern and recount the action on the field.

We are back again going out to the best of what Kansas City sports bars has to offer in terms of college football. Like the storied tradition of college football, we have a tradition of going back to the best bar of last year to start out this season for KC College Gameday. We had no way of knowing back at the beginning of last September that Johnny’s in the Power & Light would be the best but here we are planning the first Barspot of the year down there. With every television fit into every nook and cranny as well as the crazy touch table poker game, Johnny’s hit the spot on all things needed for a great sport viewing experience. So come back out with us Saturday as we head back out there to enjoy Johnny’s and scoff at that ridiculous KC College Live thingy going on in the outdoor area.

Another week of mascots and we are rolling on to a beautiful spring and chugging toward the summer. So in tribute to the days of winter gone, we are going to take a look at a mascot from a place that’s still probably pretty chilly. Cam the Ram heads up the mascot duty for the Colorado State Rams and he enjoys it from both the four legged and the two legged variety. History will show us that Colorado State had a couple of two legged and four legged mascots before Cam the Ram’s debut. So put on your hiking boots, we’re heading of the mountains.
