Pick It And Stick It: Saturday Spells Relief

hqdefault

Welp even though I missed last Saturday due to some sweet Austin City Limits Music Festival action, I was able to see some of the destruction.  Man oh man, last week is what makes college football so special.  Upsets a plenty.  So college football needs some relief and we have it coming up this weekend.  Yeah I’m a weekend two for ACL but I’ll be hoping to catch a bit of sweet football while it’s going on.

Pick It And Stick It: Pouncing On Picks Like A Tiger

CBB_John_McCririck

Whoa man I am so glad Kansas State doesn’t play football this week.  I’m recovering from Austin City Limits Music Festival last week and I’m just ready for some good football and nothing on the line for yours truly.  Peering at the schedule it looks like it’s a great non committal weekend for me.  Some tasty top 25 match ups and enough Big 12 action to fill up the whole day Saturday. Purple Yeti Roar 90: Washed Out

acl_washed_out

Impromptu Roar time!  Yes, I was going to see day 3 of the Austin City Limits Music Festival but some serious rain flooded out the whole day.  No worries.  It just means I’m here talking about the upsets that flooded college football yesterday.  Watch me talk about the Red River Shootout, Oklahoma, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Kansas, TCU, Iowa State, Utah, Stanford, Michigan, Penn State, and the Big 12. Pick It and Stick It: Austin City Pick Its

picking-nose-2

Yup, I’ll be at weekend two for this year’s Austin City Limits so I will miss out on watching some games.  It does not, however, stop me from picking and sticking it.  And my what a lovely set of picks this week.  We have some meaty Top 25 match ups as well as some good ole rivalry action right here in the Big 12.  Will I somehow recover from my awful pics so far?  More importantly, will I recover from this weekend? Purple Yeti Roar 39: I Ames To Please

Puns aside, I go over the Big 12 action that was last weekend, all the while pointing toward the massive game Saturday night when Kansas State heads to Morgantown to take on West Virginia.  I also talk about the BCS rankings and the teams involved, minus Oregon (sorry guys!).  Start getting pumped, we are halfway through the season and it’s about to get even more jacked. Pick It and Stick It: Up Early For Farmageddon

While most of the Big 12 World is watching the Red River Shootout, I’ll be watching Farmageddon.  It’s a trap game for the Kansas State Wildcats and I hope they pull it together and sneak out of Ames with a victory.  The rest of the Big 12 plays but frankly I don’t care so much, except maybe for West Virginia at Texas Tech.  No upsets there.   Yeah it’s an abbreviated Pick It and Stick It, but I’m going to at least get my point across. A Better Big 12 For 2012

Ah yeah, the Big 12 is back baby!  Oh well, it didn’t really go anywhere.  Compared to last year, this offseason was a walk in the park.  Why is that?  Well, we have some new faces in the mix and some old faces hit the road.  I think truly for the first time in the last 3 years, there is some stability here.  That makes me happy.  What makes me happier is the new season so let’s see how this conference shakes out. Purple Yeti Roar 06: Road to Recovery

I’m back and I’m better than ev….better than last week.  My cold is almost gone and I’m jumping out of my chair with excitement.  No it’s not the drugs, or TCU’s drugs, mind you.  It’s the fact that West Virginia settled their suit with the Big East and is officially joining the Big 12!  And if that didn’t get you jumping, too, then the released Big 12 football schedule for this fall should.  Yup, things are getting better everyday.

Cuatros Makes It Count

It has been a long time since I’ve seen some rain.  I would’ve never thought that it would take this long living down here in Texas to see a downpour.  What’s even more incredible is that this here downpour came in the middle of a barspot that featured an outside patio for most of the bar!  That’s right, Cuatros was the place to be last Saturday and I had the opportunity to watch some football both inside and outside.  So, yes, I got a little wet but it was totally worth it for the great time that I had there.

Tailgaters Sports Cafe Shuffled Us In and Out of Minneapolis

Okay so this will be a lil weird.  Barspotting found me outside of Kansas City again Saturday for the second week in a row.  This time, I was in Minnesota.  Minneapolis to be exact.  So prior obligations held me up north and by some crazy chance I was able to stumble into a sports bar up there to catch at least one football game.  Among the lessons learned on this trip was that regional football coverage can sometimes cramp your football watching style.  Well that and onion rings alone can be pretty tasty.

Barspotting: The Twin Cities Beckon

You know, I don’t know what it is with the travelling all of the sudden, but here we go again on our own.  Going down that only road that, well, leads straight from Kansas City to Minneapolis/St. Paul.  Otherwise I-35.  I’ve been (unofficially) down I-35 to Austin, Texas and now I’m heading up north to check out Minnesota.  Prior obligations find myself out there and I’m hoping to get some football down while I do it.  A little birdie told me that Minnesota is hosting Northwestern for homecoming so I might check it out.  Otherwise, it might be a great sports bar in town or more than likely Hooters at the Great Mall of America.  God I hope it’s the homecoming game.

GameDay: Bang! Bang!

redrivershootout

So when listening to the hype leading up to this week’s Red River Rivalry, I couldn’t help but think that it used to be called something else.  There’s whispers of it on the web now, but I could swear that it used to be called the Red River Shootout.  Is that right?  Pictures and images tell us of this but more and more it’s a rivalry and not a shootout.  Did they change it?  Why?  Well we know why, and it kinda sucks.
