Football Feedings 2014 Week 01: Armadilla Pork Ribs

img_0541

Hey you know, why not?  I thought about not doing one of these this year but I’ll be damned if I didn’t get an electric grill for my birthday.  So now I have plenty of new recipies to try out this fall.   With that said, I’m back and the grill is hot!  This week we’ll do something I’ve been itching to do for a long time, both main and side dish wise. Crib Sheet: The Chips Have Fallen Into the Bowls

The teams have been announced that cards played out on the table.  The big hand is lame this year but the side bets are sexier.  That’s right the regular season is over and now we are flipping over to bowl season.  There were some snubs as usual, but the Big 12 lineup of bowls still looks pretty strong.  The Cotton Bowl is right up there with the BCS bowls in terms of interesting match ups.  Kansas State vs Arkansas, or Big 12 vs SEC, like it should be.  Call your bets and flop on over to this week’s Crib Sheet.

Crib Sheet: Closing A Chapter on This Book

Okay so alot of stuff happened over the last week regarding the Penn State Jerry Sandusky situation.  And when I say alot of stuff, I mean alot.  Basically, that school is screwed and it will take forever to rebuild.  I’m sure due process will play out and what not, but it’s passed the point of no longer needing to be covered here.  So let’s cheer up a bit.  I’m going to a live college football game Saturday! I’m already getting stoked because I have some buds coming into town to watch it with me.  In the meantime, here’s this week’s Crib Sheet:

Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 11: Just Don’t Pick It There

Okay, it’s getting to be that time of year.  We had a quick preview of it last night.  Well the whole week, actually.  As the season goes on now, there will be some games on every day of the week.   We’ll definitely be knee deep into over Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks.  But already last night was an epic match up between Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.  I just hope they don’t pile on big time games on Tuesdays.  Tuesdays are for me.   Please college football, don’t take my Tuesdays away.  It’s the only real day I can recharge and get juiced for another week fo college football.  I hope they don’t pick Tuesday but I do hope they Pick It and Stick It.  Here’s this week’s fodder:

Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 07: Dripping Down the Middle

It’s the middle of the season and we are looking completely different from where we thought we were at.  That’s okay.  That’s how college football works.  The way things changed week to week is what makes it the best sport in my mind and hopefully yours.  So will the rest of the season prove even more unpredictable?  We’ve yet to see any real upsets yet and we’re knee-deep into conference play.  So chances are the 13 or so undefeated teams will start to dwindle down.  I know this will happen because sports writers are talking about the possibility of 4 undefeated teams at the end of the season.  Here’s this week’s pick set:

Pick It And Stick It 2011 Week 04: Sticking Together

Whew!  Another close one for the Big 12.  I swear, the Big 12 is the greatest thing since MTV’s The Real World.  If you want to talk about the best conferences, then the one with the best drama factor definitely is the Big 12.  Yeah, they are staying together but we really don’t know for how long.  So while they hold hands again and tell everybody that things are cool, let’s focus on some actual football.  This week’s Pick It an Stick It kind of reflects the noise off the field.  Like the Big 12, most of the great games are stuck together around 2:30 Saturday.  That’s fine for me and my barspotting trip, but how will it fare for the picks? PIck It and Stick It: Fling It Home

That’s right, I’ll be on a plane shortly but I want to get the picks up for the week.  It’s hard to stay focused with the Big 12 in legal gridlock.  You know, I thought professional wrestling was soap opera for guys but now I know that college football realignment is the real deal.  No offense to the WWE, but this stuff is way better than the scripted stuff I used to watch.  So as the conference turn, get your picks in and hope for the best.

The Send Off Was Beat Down at Bill Snyder Family Stadium

The drive down to Manhattan last Thursday was fairly quick.  The more than likely last ever game between Kansas State and Nebraska took place and it was not all I hoped to be.  But the electricity from the radio on through the fans as well as the pageantry leading up to the game made the trip more than worthwhile.  There’s nothing like revisiting your old stomping grounds and enjoying everything great about what it was like to be there.  The whole day fittingly ended Nebraska’s presence in Wildcat Country.

Pick It and Stick It: Another Road to Flick On

flickitdontstickit

We’re packing again and heading out west again, but this time it’s a little farther.  A full tank of gas and some pajammy jams are all locked up and we will be hitting the road after work.  Road trips are a big deal to the KCCGD family and we’re happy to take another one for the weekend.  Make sure you have good tunes, some tasty drinks, and the right company for road trips.  Also, bring a camera because you’ll never know what you’ll see.  Hopefully, we’ll get to pick up a pecan log from Stuckey’s on the way.  Here’s the the pick set for the week:
