This weekend sees the culmination of what looks to be another Cinderella season for my obvious homer cheered Kansas State Wildcats. They head to Morgantown this weekend to take on the hobbling West Virginia Mountaineers. This is make it or break time for both programs and Saturday’s game will determine who will stay on the national stage and who will steep back down into the conference championship race. Oh there’s some other games going on this weekend, but this is the big one for me and for most of the nation (Big 12 nation, okay?). Continue reading Pick It And Stick It: It’s A Big One To Finger

Pick It and Stick It: Bye Bye Love
It’s a little late but why the hell not. I’m going to dump out another Pick It and Stick It. It’s a bye week for Kansas State and this week’s games are hardly that interesting. But I poked and prodded around and found a couple of good reasons to flap my gums about the weekend’s games. Much to no one’s surprise, the games I’m into this weekend are from the Big 12. Continue reading Pick It and Stick It: Bye Bye Love
Purple Yeti Roar 36: Jars And Short Yards
So it was another great week of football and it started in Norman. Kansas State upset Oklahoma. I’ll talk about that and the other games of the weekend as well as look forward to some quasi exciting action for week 5.
Pick It And Stick It: Sensory Overload Weekend
Ho man, finally we get into the meat of college football. Last week, it was trap time. Now it’s the real deal. I can’t keep my homer-ism down. I’m full tilt on Kansas State vs Oklahoma this weekend. And what’s about to launch me out of my chair is that we are also treated to Notre Dame vs Michigan. It’s a shame they are on at the same time. Yup, it’s gonna to be a massive weekend and I’ll try to pick and stick my way through it. Continue reading Pick It And Stick It: Sensory Overload Weekend
Purple Yeti Roar 19: Remembering On Memorial Day
I took some time out of my busy weekend remembering out troops and grilling out some hamburgers to pop on and tell ya what happened in the week that was college football. Quick answer: not much. But tune in and see about Clemson, Miami, ACC, Big 12, Florida State, Memorial Day, Craig James, SEC, Alabama, and Chuck Neinas.

Purple Yeti Roar 18: Bigger and Better Bowls(by)
Yeah I’m not sure if Bob Bowlsby (new Big 12 Commish) had anything to do with what happened in the last week, but I’m giving him credit. Not in the video, just in this note about the video. I was too busy gushing about the new bowl series matchup between the Big 12 and the SEC, Florida State’s (and Clemson’s) apparent move to the Big 12, Notre Dame courting, the ACC and other weak conferences like the Big East, and realignment swankiness. It’s good to be a Big 12 fan this week. Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 18: Bigger and Better Bowls(by)
Purple Yeti Roar 17: Getting Ready To Rain Down
Yes, this week I get a little wet, with emotion. And by wet, I mean sweat. Sweat for all of the realignment rumblings that involve the Big 12 and teams going _into_ the conference. I’ll talk about some of the teams that fall in to that latter category as well as some Texas, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Bill Byrne, West Virginia, Aaron Green, and Dan Beebe. Continue reading Purple Yeti Roar 17: Getting Ready To Rain Down
Purple Yeti Roar 05: More Like Meow
I barely made it through this week’s roar. It’s turned into a meow. I’m fighting a cold and will now go back to my lair and recover. In the meantime check out my takes on the Mountain West merging with Conference USA, North Dakota State’s fightin’ name issue, and some playoff/expansion menagerie. Oh it’s quite the trist. It’s okay to watch, I washed my hands. Just be sure to get plenty of fluids and rest.
Bowl Pick It and Stick It 2011: 6 and 8 Split
Yes, it’s bowl season and I’ve got a hankering for one more Bowl Pick It and Stick It. This time bowling is more exciting for me outside of the BCS Bowls. Part of it is the fact that Kansas State got jipped out of an appearance at the Sugar Bowl, but the other part is that the line up BCS wise is just not interesting enough. The Sugar and the Orange are lame. The BCS National Championship Game is a rematch of boredom. The Fiesta and Rose look good but the overall product leaves me underwhelmed. That’s what I’m stoked for the Cotton Bowl. It’s non BCS and has a top 10 BCS match up with Kansas State taking on Arkansas. SEC vs Big 12. Hell yeah. Remember it’s a straight up pick but you can rank your confidence from 1 to 35. What other bowls are interesting you ask? Well, let’s start with the Big 12. Baylor and Washington look good for the Alamo Bowl, thanks to Robert Griffin III’s Hesiman win. Oklahoma playing Iowa for the first time in forever in the Insight Bowl sees Sooner head coach Bob Stoops head to his alma mater. What other games look good? How about the Outback Bowl with Georgia taking on Michigan State, another version of the BCS snub bowl. That’s about it for me. The others are decent but they just don’t jump out to me. Come back every Monday from here on out, though and we’ll go over the picks.
Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 13: Plucking One Out
Ho man, am I stuffed. I never thought that I would be as stuffed as I was away from the family on the Thanksgiving as I am now. I know for certain that Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays out there now. Family is really getting together with friends and loved ones. Thanksgiving is a reason to get together with family and totally gorge yourself. I need to hit the gym pronto but first I will go over the Pick It and Stick It for this week. It’s some doozies and I mostly excited that great games come one after the other. It was like the second, third, and fourth helpings for me on Thanksgiving. Here’s the pick set:

Thankspotting: Home Away From Home For The Holidays
Last week was rough. For lots of reasons. Tailgating as hard as I did last weekend has left some lingering effects. There’s also a sprinkle of great games from Thursday through Saturday. So I decided that this week, it will be some major home spectating. It’s a weird week for me anyway because this is the first Thanksgiving I’ve had away from home. Hopefully I won’t miss Mom’s stuffing too much. Let’s check out the games.

Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 11: Saucy Selections
Oh yeah! I’m already thinking about what to do for the tailgating experience this weekend. I’m not sure if we actually have a spot to smoke some meat so we may be grilling guerilla style. What does that mean? Slapping some meat in a backpack and finding some friendlies for grilling. It should be quite the adventure. Speaking of adventure, the corner has turned for Bryce Brown for Heisman. It’s up to the rest of the league to catch up. Let’s take a look at the pick set: Continue reading Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 11: Saucy Selections
Pick It Standings 2011 Week 11: No Trophy For You
Another week and another undefeated goes down. Stanford just didn’t have the offense that Oregan has and now the Ducks are back in the BCS Championship talks. Will they quack in there? We’ll see that in the BCS Standings. Nobody was undefeated in the Pick It and Stick It but I was dumb enough to forget to put my picks in for the morning game. I think I came out alright but I do not forsee a way into the title just yet. I’m going to need some major help. Let’s look at the standings:

Pick It and Stick It 2011 Week 11: Just Don’t Pick It There
Okay, it’s getting to be that time of year. We had a quick preview of it last night. Well the whole week, actually. As the season goes on now, there will be some games on every day of the week. We’ll definitely be knee deep into over Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks. But already last night was an epic match up between Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. I just hope they don’t pile on big time games on Tuesdays. Tuesdays are for me. Please college football, don’t take my Tuesdays away. It’s the only real day I can recharge and get juiced for another week fo college football. I hope they don’t pick Tuesday but I do hope they Pick It and Stick It. Here’s this week’s fodder:

Barspotting: Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill
Alright, after kind of a dark week for me, it’s now time to brighten things up. Last week was an awesome bbq but my team lost in the better game of the century. Now this week we have Missouri leaving for the SEC and Penn State going up in flames. I need a pick me up. I need me some Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill. That’s right, just when you thought there couldn’t be another bar like Hooters, you get a Texas knock off with franchises sprouting up everywhere. I’m sure I’ll do another knock off some other time, but for this week’s barspot, it’s all North Austin and it’s all about football. No, really.
When: Saturday, November 12, 2011
Time: 2:00 pm
Where: Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill, 6901 North IH-35, Austin, TX (512) 454-2247
Games:
- 8:00 PM CT No. 10 Virginia Tech at No. 21 Georgia Tech (Thursday)
- 12:00 PM CT No. 2 Oklahoma State at Texas Tech
- 12:00 PM CT No. 19 Nebraska at No. 12 Penn State
- 12:00 PM CT No. 16 Texas at Missouri
- 2:00 PM CT No. 25 Baylor at Kansas
- 2:00 PM CT Kent State at Akron for the Wagon Wheel
- 3:30 PM CT TCU at No. 5 Boise State
- 3:30 PM CT Texas A&M at No. 14 Kansas State
- 3:30 PM CT No. 20 Auburn at No. 15 Georgia Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry
- 3:30 PM CT No. 18 Wisconsin at Minnesota for Paul Bunyan’s Axe and the Slab of Bacon
- 3:30 PM CT Miami (FL) at Florida State
- 4:15 PM CT UAB at Memphis Battle for the Bones
- 6:00 PM CT Florida Atlantic at Florida International Don Shula Bowl
- 8:00 PM CT No. 7 Oregon at No. 4 Stanford
Notes: It’s kind of a let down week after the game fo the century, right? Nope. We have a couple of huge games on tap here as well. I’m looking square at the Stanford vs Oregon game. The one loss Oregon had this year was against LSU and Stanford needs to stay undefeated to matter. That game is massive. Meanwhile we have some interesting games between some top 25 teams. Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech will see who will win the Tech title and possibly the ACC. Nebraska will more than likely walk over Penn State because of what has happened this week. Auburn and Georgia is no slouching matter when it comes to rivaries as well. Finally, I’ll be cheering on my Kansas State Wildcats as hopefully they help usher Texas A&M out of the Big 12.
